Paper for Apparel Hangtags: Look Beyond the Surface Feel

QiLi Paper | VANGLAM

Thickness and feel matter on a hangtag, but the tag also has a hole, a cord and information to carry. Once attached to a garment, its edges and surfaces become part of a different use environment. Treat it as a functional paper component, not only a miniature brand poster.

Paper for Apparel Hangtags: Look Beyond the Surface Feel

Thickness and feel matter on a hangtag, but the tag also has a hole, a cord and information to carry. Once attached to a garment, its edges and surfaces become part of a different use environment. Treat it as a functional paper component, not only a miniature brand poster.

Separate brand presentation from variable information

A front tag can carry the identity while a second tag holds product codes, sizes or prices. Consider PALETTE, MONO or SOFTSKIN for the brand-led piece, and select the information-bearing piece around the actual printing method and content.

White type on a dark sheet requires an agreed printing process. White in the design file does not create white ink on press. Any later printing, labelling or handwriting should be specified before the paper is approved.

Inspect the hole, edge and actual garment

Cut the tag to final size, punch the actual hole and attach the intended cord before reviewing the result. Paper, thickness, hole position and edge distance work together; the phrase “heavy card” does not guarantee attachment strength. Inspect the cut edge of dark materials too.

Explain which fabric the tag may touch and whether moisture or rubbing is relevant to use. Agree checks for that material combination. An untested “never transfers colour” statement is not a useful substitute.

Natural colour is not an environmental claim

Cashmere Camel 15 with Ink Black 10 can be explored for apparel tags. Natural Fibre 04, Sandstone 05 and Olive Moss 18 also offer natural-looking directions. Their names do not establish recycled content, cotton content or fibre provenance.

Favini’s Crush information is useful because it explains the use of process residues rather than relying only on a natural appearance.[1] Apply the same discipline to an EARTH material enquiry: identify the exact statement the brand intends to print, then request the evidence supporting it.

For hangtags, share finished size, hole position, cord, print method and garment context so the sample discussion reflects actual use.
