Choosing paper for cosmetic cartons: small type and opening

Paper for cosmetic cartons needs to support shelf recognition, readable small type and repeated opening. A packaging visual alone cannot establish how ingredient text, batch areas or folded edges will perform in production.

Compare the surfaces

Consider IMPRINT when image and type reproduction lead the brief. Include SOFTSKIN when a soft feel matters, or HALO when the design calls for a white pearlescent surface that changes with the light. These are different material directions; a proof on one does not establish the result on another.

Proof the intended carton

Place the smallest ingredient text, brand colour, barcode and main scoring lines on the same test sheet. The designer checks the visual hierarchy, the printer records the grade, equipment and consumables, and the converter folds and glues the actual structure. Confirm the finished sample before locking the paper version and order specifications.
