What is colour-through paper? A guide to the 40 colours of VANGLAM PALETTE

QiLi Paper / VANGLAM

Colour-through paper carries its colour into the core, so cut edges, scores and tears stay on colour. When it matters, and what PALETTE offers.

What is colour-through paper? A guide to the 40 colours of VANGLAM PALETTE

Colour-through paper (also called through-dyed or pulp-coloured paper) takes its colour at the pulp stage, so the face and the core are the same colour. When the sheet is trimmed, die-cut, scored or torn, the edge shows colour instead of a white core.

What does VANGLAM PALETTE offer?

  • 40 colours.

  • 90% wood pulp + 10% cotton pulp.

  • A smooth, fine surface that keeps a natural texture, with good stiffness.

  • Face and core share the same colour, so cut edges and tears stay on colour.

Which projects benefit most?

  • Business cards, greeting cards and invitations, where thick edges are seen and touched.

  • Folding cartons and shopping bags, where scores and folds would otherwise show white.

  • Deckled or torn-edge designs, where the tear itself becomes part of the design.

How is it different from printing a solid colour?

A flood colour printed on white stock colours only the surface: trims and scores can reveal white, and heavy ink coverage brings its own drying and rub considerations. With colour-through paper the colour belongs to the sheet, so ink can be reserved for the graphics. Always proof the real artwork, inks and finishing on the selected colour.

How should I use the on-screen colour values?

The digital values on the colour pages are references only. Final colour is judged on the physical sample book and confirmed by spectrophotometer reading.
