Proofing Colored Paper: Separate Absorption, Surface Strength and Adhesion
Turn production-control aims into a project proof using the selected grade, ink and finishing system.

Do not compress three questions into “printable”
Colored-paper proofing needs separate attention to ink absorption, the surface under printing forces and adhesion during finishing. PALETTE is an uncoated colored paper. Discussing a later varnish or coating is a project-conversion question; it does not mean that the original sheet is already coated. Control aims need to be checked against the selected grade and proof.
Prepare a useful test form
Include fine type, solids, a light tint and the actual image. Use the proposed ink and print platform. After drying, review color, set-off or rubbing concerns and any surface change, then inspect the intended varnish, lamination or other finishing. Agree the method, observation timing and approval reference. A hand-feel check or one photograph cannot validate every color.
FAQ: Does a smooth surface guarantee good adhesion?
No. Appearance, tactile character and process compatibility are different questions. Fine, even texture and low gloss describe the sheet; the complete material combination and finished-product test establish project suitability.
Share the ink system, process sequence and observed problem with QiLi Paper and the printer so that the full workflow can be reviewed together.
