Paper for Premium Shopping Bags: Grammage Is Not a Load Rating
Choosing a heavier sheet does not, by itself, answer how much a bag can carry. Handles, holes, folds and the base are part of the construction, and the contents have their own shape. Approve the complete bag, not just the paper lying on a table.

Choosing a heavier sheet does not, by itself, answer how much a bag can carry. Handles, holes, folds and the base are part of the construction, and the contents have their own shape. Approve the complete bag, not just the paper lying on a table.
Start with the contents and the construction
Provide the contents’ mass and dimensions, any sharp edges, the bag format and the handle construction. Then discuss grade, grammage, reinforcement and adhesive. Billerud’s carrier-bag material information includes tensile, burst and tear performance, illustrating why thickness alone is an incomplete description.[1]
Those are matters to assess, not load ratings for a QiLi grade. Without a finished sample and agreed conditions, a grammage-to-kilogram promise is not justified. Different contents and constructions need their own approval.

Coordinate with the box without copying its specification
Deep Jade 27 with Almond Taupe 07 can connect the bag and box while giving information a lighter area. Ultramarine 30 with Luminous Yellow 12 offers a more pronounced contrast. Handle cords are separate components; a paper colour does not establish matching cord availability.
PALETTE, CHROMA and SOFTSKIN may enter the style shortlist, subject to bag-making trials. The 120 g/m² listed for QiLi’s current CHROMA sample-book paper is a specific sample specification, not a universal recommendation for carrier bags.

Lift it after printing and conversion
Use a sample made with the intended printing, surface treatment and bag construction. A blank bag made from another material cannot approve the final job. Follow an agreed loading and handling procedure, then inspect holes, seams, base and surface wear. State any moisture-related use conditions separately.
Review colour and finish on the converted bag as well. The paper supplier and bag converter need the same finished-product brief, including what will be carried and how the bag will be handled.

For shopping-bag paper, send the bag format, contents, handle construction and printing process—not only a target grammage.
