China Red and Merlot: planning color for a gift piece

Compare the reds before assigning area

No. 21 China Red and No. 22 Merlot offer an original two-red direction for a gift piece. Neither is automatically right for every brand. Make small exterior, interior and card samples rather than judging only from isolated swatches.

Let opening reveal the change

One color can lead on the cover or box exterior, with the second revealed inside. An independent card can carry supporting copy without filling the outside with text. Confirm the paper, folds and information placement before adding more decoration.

Color 11 Champagne can provide a lighter reference beside the reds. The name does not establish a pearlescent or metallic surface.

FAQ: Can white type on red paper go straight from the original file to production?

Do not approve it from the artwork alone. Ask the printer to compare coverage, fine type and drying on the chosen paper. A switch to foil needs its own process proof.

Retain a seasonal reference

Request China Red and Merlot samples with the weight direction, construction and processes stated. Keep approved paper and finished samples. A screen view or an emotional description is not the sole color standard.

Cover: an original digital color study, not a physical paper specimen. Confirm color and surface with physical samples.
