Will more creasing pressure prevent cracking?

More pressure alone is not a reliable remedy. Check the condition and grain direction of the paper, the creasing rule and matrix combination, and where cracks appear after folding. Moisture loss can make paper brittle; include the surface treatment and printed coverage in the investigation. The converter should change one variable at a time using the same paper batch and artwork, retaining creased and folded samples for comparison. Trial SOFTSKIN tactile, HALO pearlescent and GRAINFORM textured stocks separately. The appropriate pressure and tooling depend on the actual caliper, carton structure and equipment; settings from another stock do not approve the new combination.
