Should a foil change be reproofed?

Yes. Approval of the original proof applies to the combination of stock, foil, artwork, die and processing conditions used for that sample. After changing foil, check fine-line and small-type edges, coverage in solid areas, adhesion and the appearance after folding on the proposed stock. HALO pearlescent, SOFTSKIN tactile and GRAINFORM textured surfaces differ; a proof on another series does not approve the new combination. The finisher should establish temperature, pressure and contact time using the actual equipment, foil supplier guidance and trial results. Record the foil grade, paper and approved sample. A similar gold colour alone is not enough to justify a substitution.
