Must every folding carton fold “with the grain”?
No single rule replaces a production proof. The stock, carton geometry, score direction, tooling, coverage and finishing sequence all matter. Make structural samples in the relevant directions on the proposed stock, then print, crease, die-cut and fold them before fixing the sheet and imposition. Record the supplier’s grain notation, sheet size and structural revision in the order.
