Printing and identification

How should barcodes on pearlescent paper be checked?

Confirm the barcode type and scanning application, then verify the finished print. The pearlescent appearance of HALO or CHROMA does not establish readability. Check contrast, quiet zones, dimensions and position; keep the symbol away from folds and seams. For retail 2D codes, GS1 advises avoiding shiny or highly reflective substrates. Discuss a separate light, opaque information area with the printer, then verify the actual paper, ink and finishing combination. One successful phone scan is not a quality assessment. Ask the printer or verification provider to use an appropriate barcode verifier against the applicable requirements, and retain the report and finished sample.
