Does tighter imposition always reduce total paper waste?
Review sheet utilisation alongside grain direction, creasing, binding and other finishing steps. A denser layout may not reduce total project waste if it creates unsuitable folds, difficult assembly or rework. Give the printer the finished dimensions, structure, stock and process plan to compare options together, retaining candidate layouts and trial results. For a catalogue, inspect a bound prototype for handling; for packaging, assess the complete carton or bag. Evaluate the option against actual material consumption and defect records, rather than the unused area visible in an imposition diagram alone. Do not promise a fixed paper-saving percentage without supporting production data.
