Does through-coloring remove the need for PALETTE print or coating trials?

No. Through-coloring describes how color is introduced, not print compatibility. Check absorption, surface strength and, if the project adds a coating, adhesion with the actual ink, coating system and process. PALETTE itself is an uncoated colored paper; a later coating trial does not change that product definition.
