White ink and colour

Does more white ink mean better colour?

Not necessarily. White ink can form a base for a colour image, but opacity is only one approval criterion. On PALETTE coloured paper or CHROMA coloured pearlescent paper, compare the white areas, overprinted colours, small type and fine lines on the proposed stock. Check adhesion, drying or curing, and the result after finishing. The printer should set the number of passes and ink coverage for the actual equipment and consumables; there is no universal setting for every paper. Retain the approved proof with the stock, white-ink settings and printing sequence. Reproof after changing paper colour, surface or printing method. A series name does not establish certification for a particular digital press or white-ink process.
