Material origin and recycling

Does higher recycled content prove lower carbon emissions?

Recycled content cannot be converted directly into a carbon-reduction figure. A comparison needs a defined subject, function, boundary, data source and method, with comparable alternatives. Source records for a RECAST grade can support the corresponding recovered-material description; they are not a complete carbon-footprint report. Where the project needs an environmental comparison, gather evidence relevant to the selected materials and processes, then have it assessed by a suitably qualified responsible party. Keep verified material facts separate from environmental conclusions that have not been established. Do not borrow another brand’s emissions figures or claim a fixed reduction without evidence for the actual comparison.
